Chart At A Glance

  • Christmas is finally over on my Top 50, as Lindsey Stirling’s “What Child Is This” slips to #2 after 6 weeks at #1. Third Day’s “I Need A Miracle” reclaims #1 in its place.
  • Quite possibly for the first time in my charting history, there are now 4 former or current #1 songs inside my Top 5. Even better, they are consecutive from #1 to #4.
  • So, Lindsey Stirling may have slipped from #1, but it’s still another great week for her on my chart, as “Elements” cracks my Top 5 at #5, and “Crystallize” rises to #7. She’s the latest artist to have 2 songs inside my Top 5; Sanctus Real last accomplished that in 2011 with “Lead Me” and “Whatever You’re Doing”. Now, could she possibly chart 3 songs inside my Top 5? Only MercyMe has pulled that off; way back in Autumn 2004, “I Can Only Imagine”, “Here With Me”, and “I See Love” charted in my Top 5 simultaneously.
  • Another reason why it’s another great week for Lindsey: she now has 4 songs charting, as “Zi-Zi’s Journey” climbs aboard at #48. Only a handful of artists have ever had 4 or more simultaneous songs on my Top 50, including Casting Crowns, MercyMe, Matthew West, and RED. They have all had 5 simultaneous charting songs at some point over the years. Maybe Lindsey will join their ranks? Well, it can happen! 1 more song of hers continues “waiting in the wings” below my Top 50, “Moon Trance”. It could certainly make a Top 50 debut soon!
  • In other news, a few songs make nice jumps in the bottom half, including recent debuts by Sara Groves, Jonathan Thulin, and Josh Groban. The respective songs “Miracle”, “Bombs Away”, and “Brave” are up 6 to 9 spots each.
  • Josh Groban’s veteran chart hit, “You Are Loved”, is also up 9 spots. Even after over 300 weeks, the song is still doing just fine on my chart.
  • Finally, Evan Craft re-enters my chart at #49 with “Broken Heart”.

For visual browsers only, Bullets (e.g., ▲ and ▼) appear on songs seeing a gain or loss of interest, regardless of movement. Upward bullets show gains—white for slight gains, aqua for high, and gold for very high. Downward bullets show losses—grey for slight losses, purple for high, and black for very high. “Jump Of The Week” and “Fall Of The Week”, when present, indicate songs with the biggest change in interest. Finally, songs below #50 become recurrents after 25+ weeks charting, or after 40+ weeks if they never peaked above #26. For more details, see my chart methodology.
